Compliance

Certifications & compliance

GNSeal covers sit against food, in kitchens that get audited. Here is exactly what has been tested, by whom, and how to get the paperwork your procurement process needs.

FDA

US food-contact rubber, repeated use

21 CFR 177.2600

The United States food-contact rule for rubber articles intended to be used over and over — the relevant test for a lid you wash and reuse rather than throw away.

GB 4806.11

China national food safety standard

with GB 31604.2, 31604.8 and 31604.9

The food-contact standard for rubber materials and articles — migration and composition limits for material held against food.

REACH

EU chemical safety

Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006

Screens for Substances of Very High Concern. The baseline European buyers ask for when a material touches food.

RoHS

EU restricted substances

Directive (EU) 2015/863 amending 2011/65/EU

Restricts lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and the regulated phthalates.

Halogen

Halogen content

EN 14582:2016

Measures chlorine, bromine, fluorine and iodine content in the material.

Every standard above was tested by SGS, an accredited third-party laboratory, in March 2024, and passed. The testing was carried out on the food-grade silicone the covers are moulded from — it is material testing, which is what food-contact compliance is assessed on, rather than a certification of GNSeal as a company.
